It has been noticed over time that the stock cast aluminum housing will develop cracks in key areas that can cause a loss of MIVEC control when valve spring seat pressure from upgraded valve springs is increased or during loss of oil pressure. By enlarging the overall diameter and CNC machining it from billet 6061-T6 aluminum, they have increased the overall strength of the piece, making it more resistant to failure.
